Earchphoto on the road. What happens when a photographer decides to take a road trip with the purpose of creating? Well, in all honesty, I do not know the answer - but it seems that, when you venture out looking for beauty, you will always find it on your path. This old barn caught my eye while driving to Spokane during the Winter. It made me think of our farmers and how we can support them and show gratitude for their work.
Everything on our table comes from American farmers.
Some days it rainsHurricane Harvey and hurricane Maria - as every natural disaster does - reminded us all that there are things in this life that are not under our control. I too have learned that the hard way a long time ago, as I lost a house to a natural disaster once. This time I was very fortunate to make it through Harvey with only minor damage, but saw some of my friends who had to be rescued from flood waters and faced unimaginable loss. The rain reminded us that no matter how much we plan and do - sometime we have no power over nature.
Because some days it rains. Hard rain. Unrelenting rain. And makes you wonder if it's ever going to stop. And maybe it won't, or maybe it will. Because the deal is, any time that we are at odd with what is - we take a step back in our ability to change what is. The perception that what is happening 'should not' be happening, the feeling that our situation 'should not' be the way it is - all that weight on our hearts sets us back from the actual steps that we need to take in order to change our situation.
The hard question is - can we come to peace with what is? Can we accept where we stand right this very moment and come to peace with it enough to look around and find out what opportunities surround us, and where we can go from here?
Maybe the rain will stop.
A recent song by the band Mercy Me put this perfectly into words, and you can listen to the song here: "I know You're able and I know You can
In the meantime, let's help each other. Any act of kindness and relief, no matter how big or small, will help someone. Let's be kind and productive members of the community and try to do anything we can to help our neighbors. They need us.
If you are looking for some items that will help a good cause during the Month of October, please check out our art wall calendar and yearly planner. Proceeds from both will go to the hurricane relief fund to rebuild Houston, and hopefully help many people in need. With gratitude,

Lost for wordsAs I look at a blog post I published yesterday, I realize that prior to that, this blog had been silent for a very long time. Interesting, because I actually haven't been silent - and I guess in the past couple of years I have focused more on a micro-blogging of some kind using various social media platforms - mostly Instagram and Twitter, and to a lesser extent Facebook. There's convenience maybe playing a role here - social apps on the phone make the work easy, share an image, share a video, pen a few words... and voila, some new content or a quick preview is out to the world and you can start conversations with new people. I guess the idea of the blog has this attached perception of being more intensive, or requiring a bigger effort - and the feeling of putting words out into space with the uncertainty of whether they will maybe reach anyone, or maybe not. Guilty of somehow following the world of immediate gratification, and seeing the like or engagement of a social media post as more effective, while maybe it is just that - immediate. And so here we are, and must we make amend to the faithful readers who had come to expect a little love from the Earchphoto Blog. And here I say it, mea culpa, because I dropped the ball. And I could go and dish out a million excuses - but I won't. No excuses, just a simple admission that sometime I've opened this window and looked at the blank page and found myself lost for words. Ad so here is a simple comeback - to say I am grateful you are here, and reading this, and giving me a reason to put words out into space. And thank you for your patience, and your loyalty - and for another opportunity to be here, and to be more consistent in keeping up with this blog, and to be of service to you. With gratitude,
