Of Water and Life

July 16, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

The Summer is coming - and we will spend most of our Summer in Houston, TX where a few neighborhoods have already adopted voluntary water restriction. Yes, today's blog post is a bit of a PSA, and we will go back to photography at some point - but water conservation is important in Texas.

So for one day, we are sharing a few useful resources and education tools, if you wish to learn more.

Texas Water Development Board

Texas Water Conservation Association

Save Water Texas

Texas Water Matters

And of course, we also share a few images from the local water and sewer plants...

With gratitude,

Time to Dance!

July 11, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

Tonight was the one day of the year when the City of Houston celebrates architecture. AIA Houston Design Awards night.

The Houston Ballet graciously allowed AIA to use the Center for Dance for this event - which gave us occasion to spend time at the center once again.

The building was designed by Gensler, and was a winner of an AIA Design Award in 2012.

We absolutely love Houston Ballet and the Center for Dance - and are extremely grateful each and every time we get to spend some time there.

Here are a few old photos we took on a couple of occasions in 2012, when the building was first opened for use.

With gratitude,

We love Make-Up!

July 09, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

We love make-up!

We do.

Yes, you have heard this before... I would spend endless hours just observing make-up artists work. And I do - I am that lucky - I get to do something I really love!

Those who know me realize that I clearly am not the 'nostalgic' type... but occasionally I do miss film, and I do take the 4x5 out for a shoot every now and then. Just to get in the darkroom and develop my film and print again. And yes, I used a 35mm too... and my favorite B&W film was TMZ, aka T-MAX P 3200. Yes, I like high contrast, did someone not know that yet? Grain and high contrast. Black, white - what's grey for?

Well, a little while back I had sort of a 'digital B&W day' working with fabulous make-up artist Hayli Moore of Beauty By Hayli (www.beautybyhayli.com) and here is a preview of some of the work we did together - kind of bringing film back in our digital days.

And yes, of course, we love working with Hayli... check out her amazing work at Beauty By Hayli - Everything Has Beauty!

With gratitude,
